Welcome to my site. I focus on research addressing rising authoritarianism in the United States, advancing voting rights and studying violent extremism. My book Defending the Race: The Politics of White Violence in the U.S. will be available this upcoming Spring with the University of Virginia Press.

I specialize in using computational methods and novel sources of data to answer difficult questions facing democracy in the United States. I primarily use R for primary data analysis, but I utilize Python and SQL to manage my self-hosted data warehouse.

In addition to my ongoing academic research, I teach American politics, political theory, and research methods at Oregon State University and work as a research consultant with Collingwood Research.
